EDK is honored to be working with the Los Angeles County chapter of nonprofit organization the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and its annual fundraiser NAMIWalks, which is the largest grassroots fundraiser for mental illness. Every year the organization rounds up the troops to raise money to help fund free programs and resources for those fighting mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, and other conditions.

October was a busy month for the organization. The annual NAMIWalks took place Saturday, October 5th at Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles. EDK was on hand to help with PR efforts. The event was a success!

EDK also participated in the first annual NAMI SFV Day at the REEL Recovery Film Festival, which took place at the Laemmle Theatres in North Hollywood Sunday, October 13th. The special day was part of a multi-day event that celebrates film, the arts, recovery, and creativity. It showcases filmmakers who make honest films about addiction, alcoholism, behavioral disorders, treatment, and sobriety.

The festival featured the award-winning documentary “Quiet Storm: The Ron Artest Story” with former Los Angeles Laker Ron Artest, also known as Metta World Peace. Interested filmmakers were able to submit their films for showcasing at the event. A portion of proceeds from NAMI SFV Day went to benefit youth programs.

Endrea Kosven, EDK founder, was at the event and helped worked on the partnership with NAMI SFV and the film festival. EDK is proud to be working with NAMI and bringing awareness to the important issue of mental health.
