Facebook Goes Big on MobileIf you like Facebook, chances are you are really liking it on your smartphone or iPad.

The mobile trend seems to be resonating with Facebook’s 800 million users. The Wall Street Journal reported good news for social media giant Facebook: as mobile users continue to increase, their mobile ad sales are increasing as well. In fact, Facebook took 18 percent of the mobile ad market, behind Google (who still rules the roost with over 50 percent of the market). Facebook ads are also proving to be effective — reports from Coca-Cola say they have been more effective than television ads in driving revenue.

As Facebook continues to expand its user base, with 1.23 billion users logging in at least once a month, the social media platform is increasingly becoming mobile-driven. Small businesses that market on the social media network need to adapt to this trend in user behavior –whether that means optimizing your website for mobile use or increasing your presence on Facebook.

While other social media platforms do continue to grab new visitors and members, Facebook is still the most visited social network according to Forrester. These users are also following brands on social media — the average Facebook user likes 14 brand company pages, while 7 out of 10 regularly engage with these brands. That’s good news for small business — if you’re deciding whether to grow your presence on Facebook, this is the green light. Regularly sharing engaging, helpful content on Facebook will do wonders for your social media marketing efforts, and will more than likely encourage loyalty among your customers.
